Karen Scott has over 35 years of experience in the development, management, marketing, and construction of over 20 million square feet of diverse property types including mixed use, retail, hospitality, mass-transit, master planned communities and Class A business and medical offices in the United States and in the Middle East. She is the author Tenant Coordination published by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) in 2006 and contributed chapters in Best Practices in Shopping Centers, ICSC, 2015, Leasing for Non-Leasing Professionals, ICSC, 2007 and The ICSC Guide to Renovating and Expanding Shopping Centers the Smart Way, 1996, ICSC. Ms. Scott has a master’s degree from the University of Florida in International Construction Management. She has earned the CRRP, CRX, CDP, CSM and CMD certifications from the ICSC and is LEED BD+C and ID+C accredited. She served as the task force chairperson for the CRRP designation in 2018 and as Co-Chairperson for the designation committee in 2019. She is also a member of the CenterBuild planning committee which is the design and construction conference held yearly by the ICSC and is a pioneer with the ICSC in on-line webinars for the CDP certification. Ms. Scott particularly enjoys mentoring younger professionals and is a faculty member of the John T. Riordan Global School for Professional Development, ICSC, 2013-2020. She has also served as a faculty member for the MECSC and as a judge for the Global Vision Awards and for the Middle East Shopping Center (MECSC) Awards, 2011/2012. Scott is currently working on her next book and teaches and consults on retail construction and commercial real estate development.
